TheĀ Swiss HIV Cohort Study (SHCS), established in 1988, is a nationwide prospective longitudinal cohort study enrolling persons with HIV in Switzerland. It is a collaboration of all Swiss university hospitals, large cantonal hospitals with affiliated laboratories, and affiliated smaller hospitals and private physicians caring for persons with HIV.
The overarching aim of the SHCS is to improve health of persons living with HIV through clinical, translational and basic science studies, and to strengthen collaborative and transdisciplinary research.
TheĀ Swiss Mother and Child HIV Cohort Study (MoCHiV) is integrated into the SHCS. It aims at preventing mother-to-child transmission and enrolls pregnant women with HIV and their children.
